so my daughter is almost 11 months and she hasnt eaten meat in about 3 months..before then she hardly even ate it..my husband is a vegetarian and im parcel veg, but not so strict about it..were choosing to raise our daughter mostly vegetarian. so while trying to do some reseach online about babies/toddlers being vegetarian it came as a surpise to NOT find that much info about it..
i would mostly find the same things..like how to cook vegetables for babies/toddlers..or how to sneak vegetables into kids food. mostly alot of recipes..which is cool but not what i was looking for..
i wanted the facts and the know how and what about this subject..i wanted to know things like what to replace to get what vitiams she need from not eating meat..
alot of the info was for breastfeeding mothers or people who breastfed their baby..uh..hello not every vegetarian breastfeeds!
my daughter is a bottle baby (or was..now shes a sippy cup baby) she drank formula and still does..we started her out on the normal enfamil premuim lipil and now she drink the enfamil soy..since soon we will be able to drink jsut soymilk...
so the internet was not really that much a of help..
well how about the library?!
ok! lets check
nope..mostly cook books and some 20 year old out of date info about vegetarian babies...i checked out the 20year old book anyways...it did have some helpful hints...
i checked ebay..amazon..borders..barnes & nobles for vegetarian baby books..and boy did they have them..and at a stupidly high price..
thankGod for borders market place..i was able to find 3 books for under $3 each..so i put them in my "cart" and went to check out..$13 total with shipping for these 3 books..SWEET!
of course they are used but hey! for that price who cares..if i bought them new i would only be able to MAYBE buy just 1..
so now im doing the waiting game...they are expected to come by the 15th...it is the 12th...
i really really cant waite to read them..for 1 they are not out of date..the oldest book is early 2000's
and 2 i got one thats also for being pregnant AND a vegetarian..not that, that has anything to do with my current status(still vacant womb!) but in the future that could be very helpful...
so when i get those books i will make sure to write something about them..hopefully all good info that will be helpful to whom ever is interested..
